Privacy & affiliate disclosure

Optional Google Analytics, Cloudflare Web Analytics and YouTube players load only when you allow their respective categories. "Accept all" enables all three. "Reject all" leaves them off. "Customize" lets you choose each category separately; toggles are off by default and take effect only when you save.

We store your choices in ssg-consent in your browser’s local storage, along with the date and notice version. This necessary preference record is not an analytics identifier and is not sent to us. It stays until you replace it or clear your browser storage. When the purposes change, we ask again rather than treating an old choice as permission for new tracking.

You can reopen the choices using "Cookie settings" in the footer. Closing the dialog does not give consent. Withdrawing analytics permission may reload the page to stop vendor scripts. Withdrawal stops future collection; it does not erase data already received by a provider. Existing cookies can be removed through your browser settings.

With your consent, Google Analytics 4 measures page visits, engagement and clicks on affiliate offers. This helps us understand which guides readers use and which recommendations lead to a partner visit. A click is not a purchase, and we do not treat clicks as confirmed sales or commission.

Our affiliate_click event includes the guide path, offer identifier (including a public advertiser ID for Adtraction links), destination hostname/path, and whether the link was in the article, sidebar or elsewhere. We do not send full query strings, fragments, free-form link text, names, email addresses, user IDs or purchase amounts in our custom tracking.

Google receives browser, device and network information. Its analytics cookies, typically _ga and _ga_BZQPH5LR7L, distinguish browsers and sessions. We set these cookies to expire after up to 12 months, without extending that expiry on each visit.

We use basic consent gating: no Google Analytics tag loads before permission. Google Signals and personalised-advertising signals are disabled in our tag; we do not enable Google Ads consent. See how Google uses information from partner sites.

Cloudflare Web Analytics is a browser-based performance beacon. It reports page views and measurements such as loading speed, layout stability and responsiveness. Cloudflare states that it uses no cookies or local storage for these analytics and does not fingerprint individuals. We nevertheless offer a separate choice for this browser measurement and load it only when enabled.

Our hosting network also processes requests to deliver and protect the site. These operational records can include IP addresses and request details. Cookie settings do not switch off this necessary network processing.

See Cloudflare’s analytics privacy description and Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

YouTube and Facebook thumbnails are hosted on our site. Viewing a thumbnail makes no request to either platform.

Allowing YouTube videos enables players in articles. Otherwise, "Load this video" opens only that player without changing your saved choice. Video listings always stay click-to-load. Facebook cards open the video on Facebook; we do not embed Facebook players or its tracking pixel.

Once a video loads, playback happens through YouTube's own player, and Google's privacy policy applies to it: loading the player lets Google set cookies and see your device's IP address and browser details, whether or not you sign in or press play.

Choose "Customize" to control YouTube videos, then "Save preferences". Switching videos off and saving removes any players already loaded on that page; it cannot undo data already sent to Google. YouTube’s own storage and retention depend on its player and your interaction with Google’s services, as described in its privacy policy.

Some of our guides compare commercial providers — SIM cards, home internet, electricity and a-kasse funds — and link to them through /offer/ paths on this domain.

An /offer/ link redirects to a partner or affiliate network and may pass through additional tracking redirects. Those businesses can receive referral information and apply their own cookies and privacy choices. Our banner controls measurement on this website; it cannot control a different website after you leave.

We may earn a commission if you sign up through a partner link. Links remain usable whether you allow analytics or not. When Google Analytics is enabled, we also record the click as described above. We do not add a personal visitor identifier to affiliate URLs, and this site does not receive your payment details through these links.

You can change your cookie choices at any time. You can also contact us about access, correction or deletion of your personal data, or raise a concern with your local data-protection authority.
